Conservatives, how do you suggest protecting the environment?

OK suppose for a moment, climate change is real and you have to cut carbon emissions. I would put a tax on carbon and introduce a carbon trading scheme. But unfortunately, conservatives tell me this is not good for the economy. What do Republican voters suggest, supposing climate change is not a pseudo science?
