My 6 month old male GSD was recently diagnosed with Panosteitis. How can I make him more comfortable?

I have a 6 month old male German Shepherd. Yesterday, he began stumbling around and was having issues walking. I rushed him to the vet, and he was diagnosed with Panosteitis. I did research on the disease, but found nothing about ideas to make him more comfortable or supplements that might help. He has been put on Rimadyl (sp?), but he's still very uncomfortable. Has anybody that has gone through this with their dog have any tips on how I can make him more comfortable? He also has not been able to defecate since yesterday morning.
